My good friends,
I am writing to you today in light of the coming election. First and foremost, I am not going change your mind if you have made it up completely about who you think should be elected. We all feel very differently about it, and that's so wonderful, considering that we live in this country to begin with.
I have been thinking about some of the people in the country who have said that if the Donald is elected, they will be moving out of the county. And this got me to thinking about what our country stands for and how this should be not be taken lightly. I stated to think about what kind of rights do we as Americans enjoy everyday that other countries don't have. In fact, just the other night, while having my family dinner, I was asked by my daughter what was I thinking about, and this is what was on my mind.
In our country, we have certain rights that are guaranteed to us, under our Constitution and Bill of rights. Like, the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The right to free speech, freedom of the press, freedom to worship whichever deity that I want to. I don't have to a member to the church of the country if I don't believe what they are putting out. I can print whatever I feel like, within reason, I can report all sorts of news. I can have a firearm if I want to. I may not be able to have open carry laws in all states, but I own one. I can take up arms against my oppressors. I have the right to form a militia, (not that I see that happening but, the option is always there) or a members only club. As a woman in this country, I have so many more rights than 100 years ago. I can vote, hold a job, make babies if I choose, be the CEO of any company. I have been asked if I could live at anytime in all of history, when would I choose. I would say now. Right now. There are so many more opportunities for women in this country then at any time, ever, in the world. We have it so much better with our technology and civilizations. Our country may have problems, and there are a lot, but, it's not totally a sham. We have it so good and we don't realize it. I am sitting in a warmed house, with music playing on my iPod through my Bose speakers, with a TV in front of me, (it's not on) a TV upstairs in my room (that's not on either) and food in my cooled refrigerator. Holy shit, I'm doing better than 70% of the world. And the world has more than 7 billion people in it. So, you do the math, it's a lot.
We have so much that we can do because of our form of government. Any natural born citizen over the age of 35 can run for the highest office in the country. There are certain things to be considered when running of course, but, we have that option. There is a lot to be said about moving out of the country when the election is over... let's really think about this.
Moving to Canada would be lovely I think. If I was able to move to one of the few places that I am familiar with. And I hear it's cold, so I'm not sure about that one. I have become somewhat of a wiener in my old age. What about moving instead to Mexico. Well, it's warmer for sure, and they have tacos, and I'm thinking Baja... Sea of Cortez, and there will be a wall separating me from the Donald. In all seriousness though, I can't imagine what it would be like to move out of my country and say I can't be apart of this anymore. It makes me so nervous to think of The Donald as the top representation of the country. Not everyone in this country is like him and when he talks, it's just bad. People are willing to accept their life somewhere else. The language could be different, because, let's face if, even in this country, people have different dialects. Look at South Carolina. And Boston. But more than just that, it's the culture and the government and the laws are different everywhere you go. There are governments that are more corrupt than ours. There are governments that openly discriminate against people. There are places that will have you beaten for spitting on the ground. There is many things that are different and people are willing to leave here for the that because of the leader of the country. Am I the only one who sees this is more of a problem than what is being showed?
I have spoken with many people who are supporters of the Donald and like I said before, it's not about getting you to change your mind, it's already made up, but, if you could at least open your mind to maybe the possibility that he may say a lot of things to get you going, but, it's a very dangerous thing for him to come this close to it. He is a danger to our way of life by way of not having a good temperament and having the ability to deploy nuclear weapons when he wants to tell leaders of the rest of the world to fuck off. He views Putin as a good guy, yet seems pretty uneducated as to the history and past of the Russian President. He had stated that Saddam Hussein was also, a man to be admired. He's made shitty jokes and taken cheap shots at the Veterans of America. How the lot of them think he's good for our country escapes my mind. He said that if you were a POW, you must be an idiot, because you were caught. How does go unnoticed? How is it that there are news agencies that have to run a fact check when he's talking to see if he's just making shit up, which, after going through the transcripts of Monday's debate, there was a lot of it. And what the hell is up with his fucking hair? Ewwwww.... Just completely gross! And he uses the fact that he's rich to throw around like he's some sort of cool guy because he has a lot of money. I would rather not have money than have to be around him. He's got money so he must be smart or able to run a country.... When he's gone bankrupt as much as the Donald, I don't see him as being able to run a company let alone a country.
And what really scares me, is not so much the Donald, it's his supports. As I have said before, I have lots of friends who are supports of the Donald, and they will not change their mind. They cannot grasp the thought of that woman who killed four people and deleted emails running the country. I happen to think differently, another reason why I like where I'm at... I can have my own opinion. And I can talk about it if I feel like it... which I do.
I guess since there are so many that don't want to talk about, I feel like it's something that we need to really look at. It is a huge thing. This is a turning point for our country, and we have the opportunity to change things. I am not saying that you should vote for Hilary, there is of course Gary Johnson, but, he is someone that I will have to research more before I make my choice... but, I can tell you, it won't be the Donald that gets my vote. Think about it friends, think about it.
